My life is just about perfect. And I doubt there is much that could make it better. Or at least that’s what they want me to think.
The truth is actually much worse. I was trained--Conditioned--from the age of three to be an Elite Enforcer. Assassin for the Governess of our city, Mother. My job was to protect her and enforce The Law. That is, until I failed.
Now my memories are not my own and because of my perfect genes, I’m no more than breeding stock, with the title Daughter of the People. I long for freedom, but there is no escape from Mother--or her city.
This is Gavin. A Surface Dweller. And hunter.
The exact thing I’m supposed to be protecting Mother against by any means possible. Including killing him.
But there’s something about him and I know he’s my only option. Despite the almost overwhelming urge to kill him with my bare hands, I have to help him get back to The Surface, because only by helping him, can I help myself.
